Communities

Working with builders and developers, we design and enhance communities to distinguish them in the marketplace. We have also worked with many condominium associations to prepare master plans to revitalize the properties and update amenities. Consensus building plays a large role and we work closely with citizens, environmentalists, and other interested parties during the design process.

Oak Manor
Vienna, VA

This infill townhouse community was designed with a neo-traditional theme where buildings and streets are organized around a public square. A brick wall was designed along one edge of the community as a distinguishing feature and to create a sound barrier along a busy street. Additional site amenities include a pavilion, ornamental fencing, street lights, and many street trees. Client: Winchester Homes

Seaton Square
Silver Spring, MD

To achieve greater variety within this townhouse community, new brick colors and site details were developed. Contrast was created between individual townhouses by using a wider range of brick colors and by painting a select few. And improvements to the site included aggregate and brick driveways, cobblestone crosswalks, and an entrance with radial walls and iron fencing. Client: NVR Inc.

Hunter's Brooke
Charles County, MD

To create a gateway into the community, large stone walls frame the entrance drive and provide an architectural edge to a storm water pond. Since homes are not visible from the entrance, a pavilion was designed to evoke residential character through its scale and detailing. The use of local stone, accompanied by the planting of native trees, shrubs, and perennials complement the regional landscape of Southern Maryland.

Rotonda Condominium
McLean, VA

To renovate this 34-acre condominium, landscaping was greatly increased by redesigning the vast parking lots that previously had few trees. Many landscaped islands were constructed, parking was reconfigured, and hundreds of trees, shrubs and perennials were planted. Due to the increased landscaped areas, storm water runoff was reduced. Additional improvements included renovations to community entrances and recreational areas.
